New openings for 2016 at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta, which began in February with the arrivals of Tom Ford, COS and Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery, are continuing in March with

Urbana Wellness Spa and will continue into April and May with several new shops.

Meanwhile, there is a rumor afloat that “Master Chef” Tom Catherall, who left the Atlanta restaurant scene in 2014 and recently re-entered the market with TomTom in Virginia Highland, has his eye on opening a restaurant in the space recently vacated by American Food + Beverage and maybe where Thirteen Pies is located as well.

Urbana Wellness Spa will offer massage therapy, spa treatments, skin treatments, energy therapies and yoga sessions.

April is scheduled to bring the addition of NARS Cosmetics, Lindbergh and Flywheel.

Founded by makeup artist François Nars in 1994, NARS Cosmetics is touted as “the beauty brand for the modern, independent woman.” Lindbergh, from Denmark, creates clothing and accessories “for today’s informed man who is interested in acquiring a wardrobe that fits with every part of his life.” And Flywheel – created by Ruth Zukerman, one of the driving forces behind the indoor cycling phenomenon – offers a competitive outlet and technology.

Kit & Ace, opening in May, is an apparel brand founded in 2014 by the former lead designer of Lululemon Athletica Inc., Shannon Wilson, and her stepson, JJ Wilson. The company is best known for producing machine-washable Technical Cashmere clothing and accessories.

Catherall, who built a dozen restaurants under the Here to Serve company name and then transferred it to his wife as part of a divorce settlement in 2014, apparently has been telling patrons at Tom Tom that he is “opening” at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta.

Tomorrow’s News Today reports that unidentified OliverMcMillan sources say he is only one of a handful of operators looking to take over the former restaurant space.

When American Food + Beverage recently closed, Buckhead Atlanta General Manager Michael Diamantides said, “The Shops Buckhead Atlanta has received numerous inquiries about available restaurant space in the project, and we do not anticipate difficulty in re-leasing the space.”

Catherall was well liked in Atlanta and “his return via TomTom has been met with great enthusiasm,” according to Tomorrow’s News Today.

The added rumor is that Catherall also plans to take over the current Thirteen Pies space and reopen it as “Antico Buckhead…in partnership with Giovanni Di Palma,” according to the same Tomorrow’s News Today report, although Di Palma vehemently denied this.

Furthermore, there is no firm indication Thirteen Pies is closing at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta, despite its parent company recently saying it would “concentrate their efforts and geographic focus on their home base of Texas.”
